The plan for this trip was to drive from Norman, Oklahoma to Denver, Colorado to attend the National Storm Chaser Convention from February 18-20, 2005, then afterwards drive to my parents house in Turlock, California to visit for a few days. This trip was planned around the time the convention was announced in November 2004. Part of the reason I decided to visit California after the convention was because late February is the most likely time of the year to see severe weather there. This was also going to be my first visit to my parents house since September 2003.
