bonus vorticity in texas and new mexico

A powerful cold front swept all of the Gulf moisture away from the Plains early this morning, leaving much of the region with chilly north winds. Since it was clear this was a chase ending pattern that would keep severe weather away from the Plains for many days, the group decided to head up to New Mexico to look at scenery at hopefully catch some upslope storms. In the process, they got to see some bonus storms, as they saw some lightning strikes north of Las Vegas NM around sunset. They also saw some nontornadic (but still interesting) vorticies as well.....

The arrow points out a dust devil the group saw near Adrian TX.
The first of three horseshoe vortices the group witnessed between Tucumcari and Las Vegas NM.
