capulin revisited: one year later

With no chaseable weather in sight, the group hung out in the Sangre de Cristo Range of New Mexico to look at scenery. Late in the day, they went to the Capulin Volcano to commemorate the one year anniversary of the awesome LP they saw there. To celebrate, Shawn, Ed, and Jeff got in a wiffle ball game at the Sierra Grande rest area. It was a close game, with Ed barely squeaking out with a 6-5-5 win. After Shawn and Jeff wiped away the tears of defeat, the group drove up Bob's road to see a weak thunderstorm produce a lightning bolt every 10 minutes over Sierra Grande.

The group stopped at the 8700 foot elevation on Hwy 434 between Angel Fire and Mora to take pictures.
They also found this to be a good place to watch thunderheads go up in the distance.
It looked very dry out there. But how dry was it???
The dewpoint was 21.3 degrees!!!! With an air temperature of 73.1 degrees, that made for a relative humidity of 15 percent!!!!
The thunderstorms that developed near Raton earlier in the afternoon weakened over Sierra Grande at sunset.
