Summary....April 2004 saw a fair amount of days with rain and thunderstorms in central Oklahoma. The span from the 19th-24th was particularly active as widespread thunderstorms developed all over the state. Most of these storms just missed Norman however, as only .25 inch of rain fell here those six days. A small low pressure center did develop on the backside of some weakening storms on the morning of the 20th, and produced winds strong enough to snap tree limbs and cause scattered power outages. Large amounts of hail fell in Oklahoma City on the 21st. Other storms occurred in the area on the 9th-10th - with small hail occurring here in Norman early on the 10th. There was also a very active lightning display here in Norman from storms on the night of the 29th-30th. Temperatures for the most part were seasonable, although an impressive cold front went through the area on the 12th. Measurable snow occurred in western Oklahoma on the 12th, and our low temperature on the 14th was actually cooler than the lowest temperature recorded here during March.
Turlock CA continued to have a very warm, dry spring. Only .09 inch of rain fell there in April 2004, which brought the season total to 9.83 inches through the end of the month.
