Summary....February 2004 was cooler than average in central Oklahoma thanks to a persistent cool spell during the first half of the month. Norman remained one of the few places in the southern Plains without measurable snow all winter, repeatedly just missing out on snow events which clobbered other parts of the state. On the 4th sleet fell here in Norman while locations north and west of Oklahoma City picked up several inches of snow. Then on the 13th-14th it was southern Oklahoma and northern Texas' turn to get several inches of snow while only flurries fell here in Norman. Even Austin TX almost 400 miles to our south got 2 inches of snow from this storm! And snow there is not that much more common than it is in Turlock! A blizzard of another sort hit parts of TX and OK on the 19th - not of snow but of reddish brown dust kicked up by strong southwest winds. The big dust cloud moved over Norman that evening and reduced visibility to a few miles.

Turlock CA had 3.73 inches of rain during Feb 2004, which brought the season total there to 9.09 inches.
