Summary....June 2002 brought some decent rainfall to central Oklahoma, with several heavy rainfall events early in the month. Temperatures were seasonable throughout the month, with temperatures getting above 80F but not falling below 60F every single day this month. The sun was dimmed a few times during the month - first on the 10th from a partial solar eclipse, then on a couple of other occasions later in the month as upper-level smoke from fires in Colorado and elsewhere in the West drifted overhead.
Turlock CA had their first rainless June since 1994, which kept the 2001-02 season total at its final total of 10.90 inches. The 2001-02 rainy season in the northern half of California was typical of drier than average years there in that the majority of the rainfall occurred before January. Only 3.99 inches fell in Turlock after January 1 - by far the lowest January-June rainfall total there the past 15 years.
