Summary....October 2001 was mostly a quiet month weatherwise for central Oklahoma with below average temperatures and near average precipitation. All of the month's precipitation fell during a wild span of four days during the second week of the month. At least 19 tornadoes touched down in the western half of Oklahoma on the 9th. Slow moving thunderstorms dropped heavy rain over the OKC area on the 10th. A large squall line broke out across central and eastern Oklahoma on the evening of the 12th. Other notable weather events included a dust storm which turned the sky a pinkish color on the 15th and a San Joaquin Valley style dense fog outbreak on the 20th.

Turlock CA had .22 inch of rain during the month, all of which fell on the 30th. The 2001-02 season total there through the end of the month was .53 inch.
