wiffle ball in angora

While the weather may not have been favorable for storms, it sure was favorable for wiffle ball. At 4000 feet above sea level, and with a wind blowing out to center at 15-25 mph, this rest area near Angora NE was a home run haven (Skool Bird would have loved hitting in these conditions). Shawn, Ed, and Jeff loved hitting in these conditions too, as can be seen in the highlights below....

Since Shawn runs the 40 in 4.3, we had him lead off..
....and he put that speed to good use to leg out this infield hit. Of course it helps when your shortstop throws rainbows.
With the high winds and high elevation, even someone who's 4'11" with a 14-inch waist like Ed can hit the ball like he's 6'6" with 28-inch arms.
Ed ended up hitting five home runs today. Here's his second.
Unfortunately for banjo hitters like Jeff, this rest area had thick grass and soft sand. Somehow this ball still managed to roll far enough for Jeff to get a double.
Jeff rolls another ball down the line for extra bases....
...and gets gunned trying to stretch it into a triple. He still got an ERBE out of that hit, though.
Shawn's big one-handed Mark McGwire style swing finally yielded some Mark McGwire style results on this grand slam. These would be the only runs Shawn scored this game - final score was Ed 10, Shawn 4, and Jeff 3.
